Is watching him ravage trash
for salvageable butts
before people notice his arms
are scabbed like barnacles. Is
the way I become on the city bus: lugubrious. Is
stealing restaurant tampons, dinner rolls,
is not having the self-control to resist: ice cream
fucking, cannabis. Is thinking about the time
you missed my final game,
and how little and sweaty I felt
when the amoeba of parents cheered.
